Laurent Medelgi's "Diverses" is post-nuclear chamber pop and cabaret at its best. The darker moments are the most resonant, as on "A Melody For Nadine," a mirage of lost love on brass and brooding guitar. And "Morning Of September 01" features clashing acoustic and electric guitars, and wailing viola, creating an equally ominous and mournful experience. A rare, provocative treat.
