Scheherazade is a symphonic suite composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov in 1888. He based his compositions off of the Book of One Thousand and One Nights, in which the legendary mythical Persian queen is the storyteller. Arabian musical influences pervade throughout, including sweeping strings and interesting melodic ideas. Be sure to check out the thunderous final movement, which features unpredictable outbursts from the orchestra.
