This sonata shows once again the talent and creativity of the composer. Using a very formulaic approach, Haydn is nevertheless able to make a truly unique and exciting piece of music, comprised primarily of simple motifs that are repeated and expounded upon to great effect. As with the composer's other sonatas, Haydn's Sonata 48 is engaging, unique and, most importantly, fun to listen to.
